JS Prom: A Part of my High School Life

Jerleth:Have you heard the rumor?

Mildred: What rumor?

Jerleth:  My classmates said that there is rumor about the JS Prom this year. 

Mildred:Ah. I can hear that also but there is no news or update yet if there will really be. 

Jerleth: Ugh! If it will be pushed through, I don’t know if I will attend. 

Mildred: But why?

Jerleth: Because aside from being Iglesia Ni Cristo I’m not that active in attending parties or any events like JS Prom. I have not attended any parties yet. And uh! I don’t like to see myself wearing gown and make-up on my face while walking here in school. I told myself what I had done last year will be the last one. I will not do that anymore. 

Mildred: It is only for a night, I believe you can do it.  Your batch is lucky if you will have that. JS is a part of high your school life that you should never miss. 

Jerleth: But I don’t really think I can do it. I cannot. Another thing, we are going to have our dance partner. I am not comfortable to dance with a guy especially for that kind of event. 

Mildred: Why? What’s with a guy? Why can’t you dance with a guy?

Jerleth: I am just uncomfortable. I’m fond of being with them. They are good, besides I have been going with guys since elementary. I do enjoy their company. But dancing with a guy? I cannot seriously.  

Mildred: I see. Haven’t you danced with someone?

Jerleth: I already danced with someone but that was during the last part of my elementary years. My teacher had just asked me to dance with my classmate but it only took for about 5 minutes. I could not take it anymore. Now, I will not really dance even for a minute. 

Mildred: Well, I understand you. I know somebody who is like you. There are really some cases in which you cannot force yourself to do such thing. 

Jerleth: Thank you for understanding my situation. I just hope others will not take it seriously and say I’m KJ.  I never wanted to be killjoy. 

Mildred: But think of it also. I am telling you, it is going to be fun. It’s your time to have fun even for a night here in school. Imagine, after these hard working days you will have been with your friends enjoying all the time, no projects, no assignments to think on that night. 

Jerleth: Yes, I am still thinking about it if ever it will really be pushed through .Thank you again for listening and letting me realize some things.
